sew an across the body bag

Home Depot recently had a sale on the drop cloth.. ,, 2 in a pack for $9.97.. and I bought two packs.  After making some drapes for the bedroom I decided to make some bags.  Here's the first one I've finished.  Wish I had taken some photos as I went but since I was kinda winging it (not going by a specific tutorial or pattern)  and doing my own thing so I had to stay focused and didnt stop to take pictures.
The finished bag measurements are about  12 inches wide by 14 in tall.. thats a rough "guess"timate .. I didnt measure the finished product.  I'll update that information later.

The outside of the bag is sewn so that there are three pockets on the outside on both sides.

You can sort of see here the divided pockets.  The material used for this is duck cloth.  Which is a bit thicker than normal fabric.  Amberly picked this out.  I love it.

The inside of the bag has a large pocket divided into two sections. I also added a little tab for her to clip her keys so they are easy to find.

The bottom has boxed corners which makes it very roomy on the inside.

2nd bag coming soon.

Barn Light Electric Giveaway

I learned of this fantastic giveaway going on right now from the great people at BarnLight Electric.   And since I can think of several areas around my house that could use some new lighting I figured I would enter,, never hurts to try.

The Winner gets a $1000 Barn Light Electric Gift Certificate to purchase new lighting!

$500 for 2nd Place, and  $250 for Third.

Here are just a few of the lights I would choose.

I'd love to have something like this for my
back porch light.  Or maybe in the bathroom with all my lighthouse stuff,, it sort of resembles a lighthouse.

We built a kitchen island a while back and this light would look great hanging above it.. so much better than the flourescent light that is there now.

I'd love to install these in the washroom/bathroom above the sink and in the shower/bathroom.

Here are a few others that I realllly like,, not sure where I'd use them but I know I could find a place.

 LOVE it!

this is so cool,, makes me think
of a fan turned wrong.  I could see this in Tylers room somewhere.

sewing bags

I've been in a sewing mood lately .. here are a few things that I've made.

I made this using Suzanne's tutorial here..  She makes the  cutest things and offers tutorials all the time.  I changed mine up just a bit.. its for my husband to use and I dont think he'd care much for the ruffles.

Made the one on the left for my girls for part of their Mothers Day happy.. the one on the right is a boxie bag that me and Amb made together.   I've also made key fobs using this same fabric.. I just love it.  The girls picked this out.

I've also made some drop cloth drapes for our bedroom.. which we just put new flooring in.  When i get it all cleaned up and the drapes hung Ill be sharing the before and after photos.

I saw this bag on Susie Harris' blog. . its from a shop that she likes to go to near her home.  I'd love to make a canvas bag from drop cloth to mimic this look.  I LOVE this bag.  If you'd like to know where this bag is from visit Susie's blog.. she tells you all about the place.
